In June 2012, Shandong Provincial People's Government officially approved Weihai Institute of Engineering and Technology to be transformed into Weihai Technician College, becoming the first technician college in Weihai.
Technician College is the highest level of technical colleges, which can not only train senior technicians to meet the needs of modern production services, but also train preparatory technicians, carry out vocational skills training and teacher training for the society, undertake the promotion training of enterprise technicians and senior technicians, and better serve the local economic and social development.
