In June 2012

The people's government of Shandong Province officially approved Weihai Institute of Engineering and Technology to be transformed into Weihai Technician College, becoming the first technician college in Weihai. Technician College is the highest level of technical colleges, which can not only train senior technicians to meet the needs of modern production services, but also train preparatory technicians, carry out vocational skills training and teacher training for the society, undertake the promotion training of enterprise technicians and senior technicians, and better serve the local economic and social development.

In May 2014

Weihai Technician College was selected as one of the first batch of cooperative training pilots of higher vocational education and technician education by Shandong Provincial Department of Education and Shandong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security.

In July 2014

Weihai Technician College has been designated as the provincial training base of "Gold Blue Collar" training program by Shandong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security.

The majors of numerical control, electrician and welding of Weihai Technician College won the first place in the "Weihai Vocational Skills Competition" organized by Weihai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Economy and Information Technology Committee, Education Bureau, Finance Bureau, Urban and Rural Construction Committee, Transportation Bureau, Tourism Bureau and Federation of Trade Unions.

Weihai Technician College Ship welding technical professional Group has been identified by Shandong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security and Shandong Provincial Department of Finance as Shandong provincial demonstration professional group construction project of technical colleges.

April 28, 2016

The 44th World Skills Competition Weihai Division selection was held in Weihai Technician College. The competition was organized by the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Weihai City, and Weihai Technician College undertook the two competitions of "Electrical equipment" and "Auto repair Technology".
